So the very first thing you HAVE to do after your blog is up and running with content and affiliate links in your posts is to list your site with Google, Yahoo, Windows Live, Lycos, Mamma, and other sites that you use. Get your friends to add a link to your site on their MySpace pages, do a little Twittering, use Facebook, and other social sites like Digg or whatever your favorite bookmarking site is.
These sites get tons of traffic each and every day, if a link to your blog/site appears on these sites a few times then chances are your site will go up a few places in the rankings. Submit your site once a month to the major search engines... do this manually as then automatic submitters may leave out some needed information.
Add you link to your emails, place free online ads about your blog/site, place an ad in your local news paper, tells everyone that you know and tell them to tell their friends about your new site/blog and see if they will add links to your site on their sites if they have them... a.k.a linkbacks!
Link Backs are links that appear on other websites that point back to your site, this will boost your search engine ranking too. The higher your ranking is the higher on the search engines page your site will appear.
